Which event is most likely to occur in a tragedy?

It would probably be the death of the main character or characters due to some event that casts a dark shadow on them.  It may be due to rejection or revenge because a deed the character committed.  It can also be something that they failed to do that would have averted such an unfortunate outcome.  One is for sure and that is someone will die here.
