EXPLANATION

We were given the points,

(-5,1) and (3,0).

We use the distance formula to obtain;

[tex]d = \sqrt{ {(x_2-x_1)}^{2} + {(y_2-y_1)}^{2} } [/tex]

Let [tex](x_1,y_1)=(-5,1)[/tex]

and [tex](x_2,y_2)=(3,0)[/tex]


We substitute these values to get,

[tex]d = \sqrt{ {(3 - - 5)}^{2} + {(0 - 1)}^{2} } [/tex]

Simplify
