Answer:

In an instance where x is equal to 3, for example:

2 + 3 = 5

However:

2x = 2 x 3

2 x 3 = 6

Basically, 2x is multiplication

2 + x is addition.

2x and 2 + x are two completely different operations.
2x is multiplying and 2 + x is adding
- you would multiply 2 times x(whatever number you need to)
- and then you would add 2 plus x(whatever number you to need to)
