Y=5/6x+1
substitute the y
-x+y=2
-x+
5/6x+1=2
x= -6
Plug the value of x in first equation
Y=5/6(-6)+1
Y=-5+1= -4
so that
x= -6 and y= -4

Please type that fraction as (5/6), so that there's no ambiguity (did you mean (5/6)x, or did you mean (5x/6)? )

There are several approaches you could take here.  One would be to substitute (5/6)x+1 for y in the second equation.  This eliminates y.  Mult. the resulting equation by 6 to eliminate the fraction (5/6).  solve the resulting equation for x.
