Yes, this is true. When using the distributive property, you do the number times the letters/numbers inside and do the operation that was inside the parenthesis. So, you do 5 times p and 5 times c. The operation inside the parenthesis what addition, so you add the two products. The new equation would be 5p+5c. So, as an inequality, 5p+5c=5(p+c).
