Summarize the importance of comparing wild type and mutant fruit flies in genetic research.

It is important because it gives the opportunity to know the composition of the wild-type gene or so as to know the reasoning behind factors that cause certain traits. In addition, wild-type mutants are used as a control in genetic research experiments.
