Akbar's religious policy: He was tolerant of all religions.
Late 1600s: Very strict religious policy. People that were not Muslims had to pay a special tax. he believed that no single religion, including Islam, had all of the answers. He got rid of non-Muslims' tax and invited Hindus to be part of the Mughal government. The emperor in the late 1600s taxed and persecuted non-Muslims.
