The speaker feels as though he is a slave to his beloved because of his love. The poem begins with the lines, "Being your slave, what should I do but tend /Upon the hours and times of your desire?". In these lines the speaker reveals that his is the slave waiting to tend to his beloved whenever he is needed.

This sonnet was written by William Shakespeare and is in the Fair Youth sequence.
