Let the numbers be x and x + 1
x(x + 1) = 35 + 8(x + x + 1)
x^2 + x = 35 + 8(2x + 1)
x^2 + x = 35 + 16x + 8
x^2 + x - 16x = 43
x^2 - 15x - 43 = 0
x = 17.46 or -2.46 which are not integers.
