[tex]y=-|x|[/tex]

The [tex]a[/tex] value of an absolute value parent function deals with vertical stretches or compressions and it's relation with the x-axis.

Changing the [tex]a[/tex] value to its negative counterpart will reflect the graph over the x-axis (as shown in the picture).
