2/3x+1=5-8

Combine like terms:

2/3x+1=-3

Subtract 1 from both sides

2/3x=-4

Multiply 3x from both sides

2=-12x

Now divide -12 from both sides
=-2/12

Simplify and you get -1/6 for your answer
