3 times the sum of a number and 5 is the same as -6, what is the number?

Let a number = x
3 times is .3
the sum of a number and 5 is x+5
so the equation will be
3(x+5) = -6
3x + 15= -6
3x=-6-15
3x= -21
x= -7
Therefore,a number is -7
