Given data:

The total number of oranges is: 24

The total number of people is: 14

The expression to calculate the number of oranges a person has is,

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{Total\text{ number of oranges}}{\text{Total number of people}}=\frac{24}{14} \\ =1+\frac{5}{7} \\ =1.714\text{ oranges.} \end{gathered}[/tex]

Thus, each person gets 1 orange and 5/7 of an orange.
