An author might want to quote a source in his or her text mainly because he or she strongly believes that other authors´ opinions, ideas, concepts, etc are worth appearing in the text. This may be due to the fact that they want to refute what the other authors say or on the contrary because they think that their ideas help them convey what they want to say.
