Why is the wedding veil a sacred attribute of hera greek mythology?

Aside from being the queen of the gods, Hera is the goddess of marriage and birth. Logically, it is sensible only that her symbol would be a wedding veil. Her husband is Zeus and she mothers Ares and Hephaestus.
